Getting Ready for Advent

This weekend starts Advent, which is the season of preparing our hearts for the birth of Christ. So along with our regular pictures, I thought we'd try to keep a record of what we're doing for Advent each week as well. More than the festivities, infinitely more times over than the presents, this is what we want to impart to our boys as what Christmas is about. So maybe this will inspire you to begin your own Advent tradition!

So here's what we're doing this week (Sunday night is our Advent night):
*Lighting the first candle of the Advent wreath (picture to come)
*Reading - Jacob's Gift by Max Lucado
*Talking - the meaning of gifts at Christmas and what the ultimate gift was
*Craft - painting wooden boxes that the boys will fill with a picture of what they can "give" to Jesus this Christmas
*Treasure Hunt - the kids search for the bills we've previously hidden and put them in our Christmas box
*Pray - thanking God for the gift of Jesus, for anything else on our hearts, and also for the recipient of the Christmas box
