storm watchers

We are storm watching this morning. One thing we love about Central Texas is the magnitude of the storms. In Portland, we were used to wind and rain, but it was more of a mild (though sometimes constant) occurance. Here storms are dramatic. And beautiful. Thankfully, no one in our family gets scared by loud thunder and strong winds (except Lucca. She is terrified by thunderstorms. We always give her extra attention and reassurance during a storm).

This storm tracker shows the very edge of Ike just grazing us later tonight and tomorrow. Nothing serious, but there is an excitement in the air nonetheless. Local TV stations are all covering the hurricane, and schools are closing to accomodate the influx of people from Houston.

Even Matea is getting excited.

This is a close-up of Isaac's injury last weekend. We're going to have to figure out a haircut after it's all healed. For now, I like being able to easily look at the cut to make sure it's not getting infected.
