All About Isaac

When I think of the things that sum up Isaac right now, one of the first things that comes to my head is his voice. He is a screamer. He has the highest, most shrill, piercing scream that grabs the attention of anyone and everyone around. He's always had it, and he's only getting better at learning how to use it to his advantage. He loves toddling around after his brothers. He is not shy. Of all of my kids, he's the busiest little 14-month-old so far. He doesn't want to be held much (if at all) when we're out of the house, and usually wants out of the sling now if I put him in it. If I am holding him, he won't let me sit down (even to rock in the rocking chair). He is 100% his daddy's boy as much as he is mine, and he affectionately calls Adam, "Mom," along with me. He also is especially in love with Samuel. Here's a brief run-down of the facets of Isaac:

Motor: walking forward and backward, "jumping" (really bouncing, but he likes to think he's jumping - you can see him jumping off the side of the pool into Adam's arms in the picture below), climbing on everything he can, doing motions to chants and songs

Verbal: Mom, Mama, Samuel, Elijah, Isaac, bye bye, hi, all done, uh oh, ball, basketball, Lucca ("u-KAH!" 1 year old and bossing the dog around with the rest of them!), thank you, please, ding dong, cup, more, book, shoe, what's that?, up, car.

Social/Emotional: Loves people. Enjoys commotion; loud noises. Talks baby jargon to all who will listen. Doesn't want to be physically close (ie, held) by many people other than Adam or me. Gives hugs and kisses if you catch him at the right time.

Favorite Things: crackers, bread (any carb, really), watermelon, corn, his special blankets, silverware, plastic cards (like credit cards), toothbrushes, combs, altoids, markers, things with wheels, stairs (does this sound like a dangerous combination?), dancing and music, having his arms scratched, playing ball, swimming.

Dislikes: Extreme temperatures or textures, slimy foods, sitting still, the carwash, people patting him, stickers, hats (Samuel helped with this list).

Hard to believe that Isaac is driving already! Seems like it was just yesterday that he was making his entrance into the world. Time sure does fly by! ;-)
