Our weekend was a pleasant mix of activity and leisure. Friday night Adam was a movie night for Adam and me. We rented The Good Shepherd. It was loooong. Saturday was a fun day of football. This was their final tournament, and unfortunately Samuel's team lost in their first game. What a bummer. But they played a great game against a tough (and old! And undefeated!) team. And oh, was it a warm day sitting out there in the sun. Instead of driving home we headed for Aunt Mira and Uncle Paul's pool, put Isaac down for a nap in the pack 'n play, and had a very refreshing swim. After the swim we went home only to walk next door to our neighbor Sydney's 2nd birthday party. Her parents really did it up! They had set their backyard up for the kids with a with sprinklers, a kiddie pool, a volleyball net, sand and water table, even a face painter! On top of that they served awesome Mexican food (with PB&Js for the kids) and margaritas. Adam and I can't wait until the next time they throw a party. We had so much fun!
The next day being Mother's Day, we spent the morning at church, of course, and then had lunch at the Prince's house with Grandma and Grandpa. This was (inevitably) followed by yet another swim. When we went home we all got out in the side yard and worked on my garden beds, which was my Mother's Day request. That's my favorite kind of day. No fuss, hanging around the house, getting things done, and spending time together. It couldn't have been better.
Now I'm packing us up to spend 5 days in Florida with Honeydo. The main purpose of the trip is to attend a wedding shower for Whitney, Matthew's fiancee, but we'll also have plenty of time to play at the beach and spend time with our extended family there. My boys are so excited to see Tallia and Arden, and Samuel can't wait to spend time with David Jr. When we come home Eileen will be flying back with us! I've been waiting, like, 5 months for this, and I'm so thankful it's worked out!
That week we'll also get April, Jesse & Nicole, Mom & Aunt Becky, Aunt Sheryl & her kids, plus lots of extra family coming into town for my cousin Tom's graduation. It's going to be crazy and fun and chaotic and exciting. So if I'm absent from my blog for awhile, there's the reason. All you moms out there, hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!
