OCTOBER 18 - Ventura, CA

We're in the lovely city of Ventura visiting the Piasentins. Today we spent the morning at the park (which happens to be on the beach), and the weather was beautiful. The beach was full of ladybugs and monarch butterflies (Uncle Joey befriended one). The water was cold, but of course anyone who has seen Samuel on the beach knows that frigid waters don't scare him. He was in the water before we knew it. The best part of the park was the ship, which had a kid-sized zipline. As you can see in one of the above picture, Samuel was quick to redeem himself from the giant zipline experience at Out 'n' About Treesort.

After the park we loaded into the Piasentins' cars and drove to the nearby town of Ojai, where my Uncle Joey has his art studio. He showed us his studio, which he designed and built, and we got to look at many of his pieces, which are phenomenal. My favorite part was seeing so much of his art; I think Samuel's favorite part was either the preserved bats he had in glass jars or the canister of atomic fireballs. Or maybe the $1 he made helping Uncle Joey move artwork around. After Aunt Becky joined us, we all had some great authentic Mexican food, followed by drinks at a local Ojai espresso bar.

Our plan is to spend one more night here in the Ventura Beach RV Park before we head to Grandmother's house in La Palma. There are two things we're looking forward to tomorrow. The first is breakfast, because Aunt Becky is making it for us in the morning, and the second is 8:30 p.m., because it will be Thursday, and that means The Office, which we will most definitely revolve our schedule around. It will work out perfectly, because we'll be at Grandmother's house, the boys will be asleep in their own beds, and we will have 30 minutes of pure comedic bliss....ahhh, the small pleasures in life.
