Like Father, Like Son

Samuel just got a new Bible. It is a big person Bible, the first one he's owned. His previous Bible was a NIrV and also featured Super Heroes, which he has outgrown, but has been a great hand-me-down for Elijah.
Samuel got right to work marking up his Bible, just exactly the way his Dad does. Adam's Bible has all kinds of notes written right into the margins. Like father, like son. If you have younger children, take encouragement from this. Your day will come. It is the most wonderful thing to see your child embrace the Word of God and know that it is all his own.

Then, yesterday, at church, Samuel asked us if we would get him a REAP journal. If you attend our church, you know what this is. If you don't, well, it's a journal of sorts that's meant to be a tool for studying the Bible (R=Read, E=Examine, A=Apply, P=Pray). Samuel sees Adam and I write in our REAP journals daily, and we also occasionally use REAP to read through scripture with the kids during family time. And now Samuel will start his own journey through God's word.

What a great feeling for a mom and dad see their son own this!
