Lunches and Loves

Sunday nights are lunch-packing nights for Samuel and Elijah, because they both have school the next day. I watched Elijah assemble the following lunch tonight:

*peanut butter, honey and bee pollen sandwich on ezekiel bread
*plain yogurt
*hard-boiled egg
*banana
*his daily vitamins

It's not always this good, but I love when he picks healthy things for his lunch (without me reminding him)! Lest you begin to think I am a supermom, here's what Samuel packed himself:

*kettle chips
*yogurt-covered pretzels
*banana
*a random Capri Sun he found in our pantry leftover from a baseball game
*applesauce
*2 pieces of junky candy that I had previously asked him not to include
*some other "healthier" candy that I had previously asked him not to include
*a piece of raw vegan fudge (don't knock it til you try it!) that I had previously asked him not to include

Hmmm. Sense a pattern?

In other news, we just finished a fabulous weekend with our Floridian family. With our two households combined under one roof (and one motorhome), we had 5 adults, one 9-year-old, two 5-year-olds, two 3-year-olds, one 2 year-old and two 1-year-olds. That is a grand total of 8, in a perfect balance of 4 boys and 4 girls. It was so much fun!!! We love them. And we miss them.

Just as soon as they left, Adam took off for ICSC in San Antonio. He tells us that he is going for work, but then he sends me pictures of this:

That's OK. The kids and I are going to live it up while he's gone. Do crazy things like read books, get caught up on laundry, eat granola for dinner, and maybe even go to bed early.
