Isaac William Boyce!
We began the day with celebratory vanilla steamers, and then headed for the pool to play for the morning. We all kept reminding Isaac, "It's your birthday today!" but I don't think he understood. He did ask us to sing the Happy Birthday song a few times, which is one of his favorites. Samuel insisted on pushing him around in the shopping cart "like a king" so that the birthday boy wouldn't have to walk anywhere on his special day.
As I was trying to figure out what to fix for dinner tonight, I had trouble coming up with any meals he loves. Then Samuel reminded me that there's not anything Isaac loves more than Daddy's banana pancakes. So it was breakfast for dinner tonight, and strawberry cheesecake for birthday cake.
It's hard to believe that it was two years ago that Isaac made his memorable entry into this world! Anyone who's heard Isaac's birth story knows what I'm talking about! Isaac is sweet and affectionate, and also demanding and stubborn...we can't wait to see how these traits play out as he grows and develops. For now we are thankful for a boy who knows what he wants and isn't afraid of making a little (or a lot of) noise to get it.
Isaac, you are a true testimony to Genesis 21:6, "...God has brought me laughter." We've all been crazy about you since the morning we met you two years ago, and we continue to delight each day in the unique little boy God has made you to be. Our prayer of blessing for you and your brothers' lives continues, in the spirit of Jacob as he blessed Joseph's sons, "May the God before whom my fathers walked...may he bless these boys." We love you, sweet boy!
