So, the kids are safe and sound (and ecstatic) with Honeydo, who flew in yesterday to babysit for us, because....
Unbelievably, Adam was given (well, technically, we were given) the gift of a long weekend in New York City for his birthday. His mom has very generously arranged airfare, dining and entertainment for us, and words can't express how excited we are to go somewhere alone together! Really I would have loved to go anywhere alone with my husband (keyword: alone), and here we are in a city that has topped his wish list for years! So thank you, thank you, thank you, Honeybee!
We've only been here about 7 hours, and we feel like we've already done so much! We saw Kristen, Adam's youngest sister, shopped around Times Square, ate some good Thai food, experienced the subway, and Adam topped it off by taking me to a chick flick.
Tomorrow we get to see this broadway show, which, unlike the name, is supposed to be really, really good. Afterward Adam's mom planned for us to eat fabulous Italian food while celebrating Adam's birthday.
Adam and I were trying to remember the last time we've been away together without any of the kids. There have been single nights here and there throughout the years, but our honeymoon (6 1/2 years ago!) was the last time we've been alone sans children for more than one night. It's time, and we're ready! Although we did bring the laptop, would you believe that I forgot the camera on the kitchen counter as we were walking out the door?!? We took one lame picture on Adam's phone, which was meant to show the kids the Toys R Us headquarters we walked through. More to come, and hopefully, better pictures!
